5 tech products we could see in September 2019

iPhone 11

(left to right): iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro

This is more or less confirmed. Apple has historically released new iPhones every September so this year is no exception. Event invites have already been sent out so keep your eyes peeled on 1.00am SGT on 11 September.

Apple would likely be announcing 3 new iPhones – iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. iPhone 11 is the XR’s replacement, iPhone 11 Pro is XS replacement, and the iPhone 11 Pro Max will be the iPhone XS Max replacement.

Yes, there’s a Pro moniker now, mimicking the iPads. It is unclear what will the specs be but it seems very likely that 3D touch will be dead and Lightning will still be alive. The Pro models of the iPhone 11 will come with triple cameras, while the normal iPhone 11 will have a dual lens setup.

It is expected that Apple will maintain the current pricing of the iPhones which means each model will begin at S$1,229, S$1,649, and S$1,799.

X-mini Liberty+

New design, new color, and many more

You can actually see the new product listing on X-mini’s website here. X-mini recently started a #livewirelexx movement on Instagram, gaining momentum for the Liberty+ launch.

The X-mini Liberty+ is the highest tier of X-mini’s truly wireless “Liberty” earbuds range. There is currently the X-mini Liberty and X-mini Liberty S. The new Liberty+ will provide a IPX7 water protection rating, 9 hours of playback time, and a brand new design. It will retail for S$119.90.

Sony WH-1000XM4

The XM4’s will most likely look similar to the current XM3s (above)

Sony has previously launched the WH-1000XM3 at the IFA 2018. With IFA Berlin 2019 starting early September, we could see the refreshed WH-1000XM4 being announced then. Also, with Sony Singapore giving lots of promotions on the WH-1000XM3 are more signs that a newer model is on its way.

We could see Bluetooth 5.0, multi-device audio switching, increased comfort and enhanced noice cancellation on an already impressive NC system. It will most likely retail at S$549.

GoPro Hero 8

GoPro have historically launched its Hero range in September. And with DJI Osmo Action bringing some competition, GoPro will look to release an updated action camera soon. There should again be 3 new models under the Hero 8 label – Black, Silver, and White.

GoPro may be adding some sort of front facing display that the DJI Osmo Action has, but rumors suggest that the front facing display will come in the form of a flip-up screen. Frames rates are expected to double – up to 60fps in 4K and 480fps Slo-Mo 1080p.

Prices should remain the same at around S$595 (Black), S$440 (Silver), S$295 (White).

iPad (7th Gen)

It’ll be great if we get to see this in September. There’s a chance it could be announced in October together with the new 16-inch MacBook Pro.

But anyway, the interesting thing about the 7th generation iPad is that it will be ditching it’s 9.7-inch screen for a larger 10.2-inch screen. Rumors said that Apple will achieve this by slimming the bezels (like what they did with the 9.7-inch iPad Air 2 to the now 10.5-inch iPad Air 3).

Design wise, Apple will look set to stick with the same outdated design. Any change to the iPad Pro’s design will probably be for the Air and Mini on their next refresh.

Prices should be the same if the 7th Gen is announced, to start at S$498.

Apple Watch Series 5 is also due to be launched together with the iPhone 11, but not many leaks have surfaced about it other than ceramic and titanium finishes. So let’s wait and see what Apple has to offer.
