Build quality and design
Sudio F2 has a unique square shape with rounded edges to give a modern contemporary look. It comes in two colours – (1) white, and (2) black. The unit I have is the latter, which is more of charcoal, dark grey colour. Sudio F2 has smooth rubber coated sides that feel nice in the hand, along with a perforated front plate which feels like high quality plastic. There are four small rubber dot-like feet to keep the speaker slightly raised.
Sudio F2 has an overall weight of 410g which makes it easy to bring it about. The overall construction of the F2 feels solid and there is an attached silicone loop at the top right of the speaker for ease of latching it a bag. The buttons on the Sudio F2 are reminiscent of that of the Creative MUVO Go – tactile with a good amount of travel. F2 has a waterproof rating of IPX7, which means you can bring it in your shower or a pool party.
Ports and controls
Sudio F2 has its buttons controls located conveniently at the top, which offers easy access to commonly used controls such as play/pause and volume. You also have the power button and broadcast button (will cover that below in a bit) as well.
The 3.5mm audio jack makes a rare but appreciated appearance hidden away in the waterproof flap. The USB-C port meant for charging is also hidden away.
Battery life and connectivity
Sudio F2 is rated to last up to 15 hours of music playback on a full charge. There is no quick charge feature available, and it takes 4 hours to fully charge the speaker via USB-C. When it comes to connectivity, its main use will be via its Bluetooth 5.3 or you can go wired with the 3.5mm AUX input. Sudio F2 also has a broadcast function that allows you link up to 100 F2’s at the same time, creating a large wall of speaker output.
Sound quality
The overall sound signature of the Sudio F2 is bright, which is characteristic of a speaker of this size. Even though the F2 has an exposed bass radiator at the back of speaker, it does not translate to deeper bass. Bass is tight but doesn’t offer much rumble and boom at lower volumes. This could be because the radiator is located at the back. Having said that, on bass heavy tracks, Sudio F2 is able to cleanly separate out the bass such that it does not tarnish the clarity of the mids.
Midrange is clean, offering crisp reproduction of vocals and instruments. Treble has a bright shine to it, but on some songs can sound a little sibilant. I found that Sudio F2 sounds much better at higher volumes (>50%), as bass tends to come alive giving more punch in the overall mix.
Conclusion
Sudio F2 is a compact portable speaker that produces a clean bright sound, and also has the ability to link up to 100 of the same speaker to create a louder output. It has all the basics checked for a portable speaker – Bluetooth 5.3, IPX7 waterproof, compact size, and a 15-hour battery life.
