Review: MOVA K20 Pro Wet & Dry Vacuum

When it comes to wet & dry vacuums, there are number of brands that come to mind. And today we have a new brand called MOVA, with their flagship MOVA K20 Pro wet & dry vacuum. It has some of the sought after flagship features such as edge-to-edge brush, self-cleaning, and hot water wash. Given it is a new brand, the MOVA K20 Pro currently retails for S$349, and if you manage to snag an early-bird voucher it’ll be just S$289!

Unboxing

In the box, you’ll find the following items:

  • MOVA K20 Pro main body
  • Handle
  • Charging base
  • Cleaning brush
  • User manual

Compared to Dreame, you don’t get too many accessories included. That might be why price is kept low. In fact, the cleaning solution is not even provided. MOVA recommends to use their own cleaning solution but weirdly enough the store doesn’t seem to sell their MOA-branded cleaning solution yet. Perhaps you can use Dreame’s solution if you have one?

Design and build quality

My initial impressions of the MOVA K20 Pro was good as it shared many similar design languages of Dreame’s wet dry vacuums such s the H14 and the H12 Pro. When I saw the vacuum head, I finally understood why as there was a “Powered by Dreame” labelled on the vacuum head. So, MOVA is a sister brand of Dreame, and it seems to be priced lower that Dreame’s vacuums.

The MOVA K20 Pro is noticeably a smaller sized vacuum compared to the H14. It is slightly shorter and less stocky. The cleaning brush is also smaller in terms of length, so while you have to spend more time to clean the same area, you might be able to access some tighter areas of your home.

The design of the MOVA K20 Pro draws similarities to the H14, as the colour scheme rocks a contrasted black and white look, and also having rounded edges and an oval-shaped display on the body. You still get a clean and minimal design.

Despite the lower price, the MOVA K20 Pro still fells very well constructed with nice and tactile buttons on the handle. The charging dock also feels well built – it has rounded edges, with a thick and solid base. It feels much better in quality compared to the more expensive H12 Pro‘s charging dock.

Cleaning experience & Maintenance

The experience of a wet & dry vacuum really boils down to two things: (1) ease of cleaning, and (2) ease of maintenance. But before you start cleaning, you’d have to fill up the clean water tank and add cleaning solution.

600ml clean water tank

The clean water tank is located at the front so it is easier to remove when the vacuum is docked. The 600ml capacity is lesser than offerings from Dreame, but it is enough for my cleaning needs.

As aforementioned, there wasn’t a cleaning solution supplied in the box so I used my Dreame cleaning solution which seem to work the same.

Four cleaning modes

MOVA K20 Pro offers four cleaning modes which you can cycle through via a button on the handle. The four modes are catered towards handling dry and wet messes, each use case are described below:

  1. Auto Mode: Vacuum will automatically select the suction power and wetness of the brush
  2. Turbo Mode: Used as next level of Auto mode for stronger cleaning
  3. Suction Mode: Tailored for dry messes as only the vacuum will be activated
  4. Ultra Mode: Strongest mode suitable for deep cleaning

There is no word on the maximum suction power. My guess is that it doesn’t max out at 18,000Pa as the H14 just feels stronger. Either way, the MOVA K20 Pro still manages clean the floors of my house effectively (just look at the dirty water below). Auto mode serves as the main cleaning mode for my day-to-day cleaning. Turbo mode is noticeably louder but stronger.

It is also easy to operate the vacuum. You simply have to tilt the MOVA K20 Pro from its upright position, then turn on the power and it will move forward on its own to vacuum. The LED display on the MOVA K20 Pro also lets you know the amount of dirt that it is cleaning.

Edge-to-edge roller brush

Another key hardware feature on the MOVA K20 Pro is its edge-to-edge roller brush. This edge-to-edge design allows the roller brush to go as close to the skirting of your flooring, ensuring that most parts of your floor is cleaned.

500ml dirty water tank

After cleaning, it is best that you dispose the contents in the dirty water tank to prevent build up of smell. The dirty water tank is made of three parts which you should clean and maintain – (1) water tank, (2) tank cover, and (3) filter. These components are rather easy to clean via a water rinse.

60ºC Hot Water Wash

Lastly, one of the feature I wasn’t expecting to be available on a S$300+ vacuum is the hot water wash. Once you are done cleaning, return the MOVA K20 Pro and press the top most button which will kickstart a hot water washing of the roller brush.

How it works is the metal plate on the charging base will heat up so that water contacting it will heat it up to around 60ºC. Being able to wash the roller brush with hot water is appreciated because it can help to remove stubborn stains especially oil stains, and extend the longevity of the brush.

Battery life

MOVA K20 Pro has a runtime of 30 minutes of cleaning on a full charge. It is not a long time but I personally haven’t cleaned for 30 minutes straight. Your mileage will vary.

Conclusion

The MOVA K20 Pro is a capable wet dry vacuum, and what impresses me most is its asking price at around S$300+. Its performance and features definitely punches above its price class. If you’re new to wet dry vacuums, the MOVA K20 Pro is certainly a solid value buy to start with.
