Review: Spigen F309W USB-C Qi Wireless Charger 10W

Everything could be wireless charged these days – phones, earbuds, watches, etc. As such, you might want to buy a wireless charger and get rid the hassle of plugging in a cable. Simply plop your phone on the charger and it will charge.

I have searched for wireless chargers for my iPhone 11, but there are either too expensive or comes outfitted with micro USB. Until I found the Spigen F309W Wireless Charger. It supposedly retails at S$89, but the price has been S$49.90 for the longest time so I’ll judge it based on that price.

Unboxing

The package contains the following items:

  • F309W wireless charger
  • USB-A to USB-C cable (1.0m)
  • Non-slip mat adhesive sticker
  • User guide

Tech specs

As you can tell from the product name, this isn’t the fastest wireless charger at the maximum of 10W. But if you’re an iPhone user, this shouldn’t be that of a big deal since iPhone’s maximum of 7.5W.

  • Input: 5V–2A, 9V–2A / QC2.0 (18W)
  • Output: 5W / 10W / 18W
  • Dimensions: 7cm * 7cm * 1.1cm (L * W * H)
  • Weight: 42g

Design and build quality

The Spigen F309W Wireless Charger has a simple modern square shaped design like the Anker PowerPort Wireless 10. The base of the wireless charger has a rubberised base to keep the charger from moving on your table. The top of the charger does not come with any rubber to prevent the phone from slipping, but you can stick on the non-slip mat included in the package.

Build quality on this is great, as expected from a Spigen product. It is also Qi-certified, you can check it here.

Spigen F309W Wireless Charger is Qi-certified.

The Spigen F309W Wireless Charger is a pretty small and slim charger. It is good if you are charging phones that are small to medium in size. Anything larger, and it might not seem like a good charger size-wise since your phone will be larger then the charging pad.

I’m using an iPhone 11 so here are some pictures in comparison:

As you can see, the width of the iPhone 11 is almost the same as the Spigen F309W Wireless Charger. As such, I would recommend this charger size if your phone is of the iPhone 11 or smaller. And for slimness, at 1.1cm your phone will just be slightly above the table. It is not the slimmest – the Anker PowerPort Wireless 10 comes in at just 0.78cm.

USB-C port – finally!

USB-C port is a huge deal

The best part about the Spigen F309W Wireless Charger is that it comes with a USB-C port. And there aren’t that many wireless chargers at the moments that provides 10W and has a USB-C port. This means that you can use the USB-C cables that you already have, and all you need to do is connect it to a fast charging supported power adapter.

Charging

The Spigen F309W Wireless Charger comes with a number of power protection technology such as Intelligent Power Technology to provide optimised charging, Smart IC Chip Protection to prevent overcharging and over-voltage protection, ControlHeat to prevent overheating.

I can’t really test these technologies out, but my phone never felt warm when charging on the Spigen F309W Wireless Charger.

The Spigen F309W Wireless Charger is compatible with most phone cases but if you have those cases that keeps your credit card, you have to remove the credit card. Cases that contain metal or magnets are not supported by the Spigen F309W Wireless Charger.

Fast charging

To get the full 10W output from the Spigen F309W Wireless Charger, you will need the proper power adapter. The old 5W power adapter will not cut it, you need a power adapter that supports QC2.0/3.0. Spigen recommends using a power adapter with at least 9V–2A / QC2.0 (18W). And if you’re looking a 18W power adapter from your iPhone or this wireless charger, I recommend getting the UGreen 18W PD as it is cheap and of great quality.

Charging speed is pretty good – I can get from 0% to 50% in about an hour’s time on my iPhone 11. This will be slower if you are using an 18W fast charger, but if you are still using an old 5W power adapter then you’re gonna be getting faster charging speeds on the Spigen F309W Wireless Charger.

When the phone is initially charging, the LED indicator will turn blue. The blue LED indicator will automatically turn off after 60 seconds which is highly appreciated if you intend to charge your phone overnight.

Conclusion

The Spigen F309W Wireless Charger ticks many boxes for me for a quality wireless charger – Qi-certified, USB-C port, 10W output, safety charging features. It is hard to find a wireless charger that comes packed with specs like this at a price of S$49.90. And I can’t stress how good is it to see a USB-C port.

Where to buy

I bought my Spigen F309W Wireless Charger on Qoo10, since I could use both the shop and cart coupons which really helped to bring the price down.
