Protect your iPhone with Slimcase – Slim and easy

The new iPhone 15 will be announced soon next month, and if you’re planning on getting one then you’ll likely get an iPhone case and screen protector. In that case, you could consider getting both from Slimcase, which is Singapore homegrown brand who specializes in slim phone cases and easy to apply screen protectors. We’ll be checking out some of their current products in this article.

Unique (MagSafe) Case – iPhone 14 Pro

Slimcase’s Unique case for the iPhone 14 Pro has a non-MagSafe variant, and a MagSafe variant. The unit I have is the MagSafe variant, and in the ‘Transparent’ colour option. There are 4 other colour options of Black, Blush Pink, Dream Purple, and Ocean Blue. The Unique MagSafe iPhone case retails for S$50.

One thing that immediately stood out to me was how thin the case was. It is noticeably thinner than Apple’s own MagSafe case. It measures a mere 1.0mm thick yet is able to house magnets to make it a MagSafe compatible case to get your fast 15W charging. Slimcase says that despite its slimness, the Unique MagSafe iPhone case still offers good protection due to its “Armour Max” plastic. Slimcase also promises that their plastic will not yellow like TPU-made cases.

I don’t think it would be the best option if your priority is protection against drops. But if you’re looking for your iPhone to feel as close to it being without a case then the Unique MagSafe iPhone case solid contender.

Classic Case – iPhone 12 Mini

If you’re not a user of MagSafe charging or mounts, you can opt for the cheaper classic case (which does not come with integrated MagSafe magnets). As a demo, I have the ‘Transparent’ variant of the classic case for the iPhone 12 Mini.

The Classic cases are even more slim, measuring at just 0.38mm thin! Even with the case on, the iPhone 12 Mini still feels like it doesn’t have a case. The sides are incredibly straight without any protrusions keeping the profile very slim. This works a double-edge sword though, as the buttons are no longer slightly beveled out for easy feel of it, but it keeps the side profile clean.

The plastic used is the same “Armour Max” plastic as aforementioned. And even though the case is slim, there is a still a subtle lip that extends beyond the camera hump to protect the camera lens when you place your phone down.

Tempered Glass screen protector – iPhone 12 Mini

If getting a screen protector means you have to make a special trip to a shop to get someone to apply it on your phone, then those days are over with Slimcase’s Tempered Glass screen protector. No need to risk using your phone without one as Slimcase includes an installation frame so that you can do it yourself (DIY) easily without risk of any bubbling.

The installation frame aligns perfectly to the shape of the phone, just ensure that the label of “TOP” is at the top of the phone. After that, simply lay the screen protector on the top of the screen which will be auto-aligned by the frame so that you get a perfect installation, straight in every edge.

The tempered glass by Slimcase is made by AGC, and features 2.5D curvature with 9H hardness. The curvature of the tempered glass actually matches really nicely with the Slimcase iPhone case as it levels nicely with the edges.

Conclusion

If you’re looking for a case to keep your phone profile as slim or as close to the original phone thickness, the series of cases by Slimcase is a strong option to consider. Their tempered glass is also easy to install making it a good combo to pickup the moment you get your new phone.
