Express yourself

Designed to encourage your expression of individuality, the Nikon Z f camera is now equipped with a dedicated monochrome selector. You can create captivating monochromatic photos and videos by using settings like “Flat Monochrome” and “Deep Tone Monochrome,” in addition to the classic “Monochrome” setting. It’s as simple as switching to black and white mode, allowing you to focus on capturing images that play with light and shadows. This monochrome selector gives you the versatility to use it in various scenes, whether you’re shooting landscapes, portraits, or street photography.

More ways to express yourself

Moreover, the Nikon Z f offers Picture Control and Creative Picture Control functions for both your photos and videos, giving you the power to use color to convey the emotions, ambiance, and temperature of your subjects during the capture. As a photographer, you can appreciate the Rich-tone portrait setting, which preserves skin details while achieving rich tones. You have a selection of 20 Creative Picture Control options and 11 Picture Control options, and you can see the chosen effect in real time through the camera’s viewfinder.

When it comes to video, the Nikon Z f has stepped up its game. It supports H.265 10-bit in-camera recording and N-Log/HLG recording, ensuring that you can accurately and beautifully represent subjects with intricate details, whether it’s a landscape, architectural shot, or a portrait. With up to 125 minutes of 4K UHD/60p video recording, you have ample recording time without needing external recorders. Plus, it even supports 4K UHD video recording using 6K oversampling, resulting in high-resolution videos. The Video S mode allows for auto exposure control with a fixed shutter speed, which comes in handy when dealing with changing lighting conditions.

The Nikon Z f introduces pixel-shift shooting, which you may find particularly exciting. This feature lets you capture high-definition images of subjects with tons of details by taking multiple NEF (RAW) shots while shifting the image sensor’s position. Using software like NX Studio, you can merge these shots to create high-definition images with enhanced resolution, color accuracy, and reduced artifacts. This is perfect for subjects like art objects, insects, and minerals.

Advanced functionality

In terms of autofocus (AF) performance, the Nikon Z f doesn’t disappoint. It supports various shooting scenarios, offering 3D-tracking in photo mode and subject-tracking in video mode. It’s even improved when it comes to tracking moving subjects like pets and vehicles, thanks to the EXPEED 7 image processor. The AF can detect subjects within the frame without any manual adjustments, including tiny human faces and low-light conditions down to -10 EV. This makes it perfect for nighttime photography and indoor portraits. EXPEED 7 also enables continuous shooting at the maximum speed, even in different AF-area modes.

Additionally, the Nikon Z f enhances its vibration reduction (VR) performance, offering an impressive 8.0 stops of in-camera VR. This expands your options for handheld shooting in low-light conditions and for those long exposure shots. What’s interesting is the introduction of focus point VR, which reduces blur near the focus point in images, even when subjects are at the edges of the frame. This means you can confidently shoot handheld in various lighting conditions.

Lastly, the Nikon Z f brings several firsts to the Z series, such as the first vari-angle monitor, allowing you to compose shots from different angles, and being the first touch-operated camera in the series. This makes it incredibly convenient to make setting adjustments via the monitor while maintaining your focus through the viewfinder.
