Design & Portability
At just 30cm (12.25 inches) folded and weighing 420g, the KraftGeek Variety Tripod is made with portability in mind. It has a premium-looking aluminium alloy build and that feels solid and durable. It is also decently lightweight enough to bring along for my travels, where it will in the water bottle pocket of my bag.

For the design, there are two colour options – (1) white, and (2) black. I went with the black model, and the overall aesthetic is also rather sleek with its matte finish.
Features
KraftGeek designed the Variety Tripod as a multi-functional tripod that can be used with different gear such as cameras, projectors, ring light, microphones, and more. Essentially anything that can be attached via a hotshoe mount or 1/4” thread.

But I’m going to caveat here that the weight of the item is still a limiting factor the higher you intend to elevate the tripod. So DSLR would be out of the question unless you are strictly limiting the tripod as a table top tripod.
Multiple devices mounting
At the heart of the tripod is a 1/4’’-20 wheel locking mount that supports a wide range of gear such as phones, GoPros, mirrorless cameras, and more – up to 2kg (4.4 lbs).

Traditional tripods mount just one item such as a camera via the 1/4” thread. But since the mount on the tripod includes two cold shoe mounts and a 1/4’’ screw thread, you are able to build out a more complex rig. This make it perfect for power users to attach mics, lights, or even a compact monitor.
Unique phone bracket
KraftGeek includes a phone bracket in the box but it’s unlike the typical kind that we are used to. The included all-metal phone bracket has a thoughtful design feature of quick angle shift, enabling quick 90° rotation for seamless switching between horizontal and vertical content.

This is especially useful for creators shooting both YouTube videos and Instagram Reels. The build quality of the phone bracket also feels sturdy too. There is also a cold shoe mount and a 1/4″ thread at the top so you can attach other accessories.
Optional add-on: FlexyMount Device Holder

You can top up S$19 more to purchase the FlexyMount Device Holder which allows you to hold a tablet up to 13″.
Range of Motion
The tripod has a rather smooth ball head that provides a 360° panning range and a 110° tilt, there is also a silicone vibration-dampening pad under the mount to add extra stability for smoother pans.
Magnetic wireless remote
One clever addition is the magnetic wireless remote, which easily detaches and reattaches to the tripod and lets you capture shots from up to 10 meters (33 feet) away – ideal for group photos or solo shooting.

It recharges conveniently via USB-C, so no fumbling with coin cell batteries or extra cables.
User Experience
To get the tripod up and running, you have to press the button at the bottom of the tripod to unlock the legs. Once the legs are unlocked, you can then extend the pole. The push button though, is what makes the user experience feel a little clunky to me. There is quite some force required to push, and you also have to hold the handle sleeve while pressing the button, if not all the legs won’t open at once. If there is a version 2 to the tripod, it would be nice to have an easier way to open the tripod.

Once the legs are released, setting up the tripod is quite intuitive. Simply pull along the handle sleeve to increase the height of the tripod. One of the highlights is the telescopic pole that extends from 28 to 152 cm (11 to 60 inches). This flexibility means it can double as a selfie stick, a desktop tripod, or a floor-standing tripod – all in one.

For added stability, you can further extend the retractable legs, which expand from 20–28 cm (7.9 to 11 inches). Having said that, at the highest height anything mounted at the top will be top heavy so it will shake a bit if there is some force applied to it. Even a compact camera like the Canon G7X II will shake a bit when I push it slight. If it is a windy environment, try not to mount your camera/phone to the highest height.

The KraftGeek Variety Tripod can feel like a “jack of all trades but master of none” type of product. It’s light enough to carry in a backpack but a little heavy if used as a selfie stick. It can go high enough but isn’t as stable as regular tripods at that height. However, I do appreciate the hybrid product it’s trying to be and as long as your use case exceed the shortcomings, the KraftGeek Variety Tripod can be a very effective tripod for you.
Conclusion
The KraftGeek Variety Tripod attempts to be more than regular tripod – it is a selfie stick and a travel tripod combined into a relatively portable and versatile design. For anyone looking to elevate their content creation, you’d likely find the KraftGeek Variety Tripod helpful whether you’re using it at home or out when travelling. With a strong blend of functionality, durability, and portability, it ticks nearly every box, whether you’re a beginner looking for an all-in-one tripod or a seasoned creator building a flexible mobile setup.
