Another telco is joining the intense competition. Say hello to Grid Mobile, a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) which is a joint venture between SingTel and ST Telemedia.
Grid Mobile has only one offering – a S$24.90 plan. It has some quirks to differentiate itself from the competition, such as Malaysia roaming data, buddy sim card and reward points.
For S$24.90/month, you get to enjoy the following:
- 20GB of data
- 200 minutes of outgoing calls
- 200 SMS messages
- Free incoming calls
- Free caller ID
Grid Mobile is establishing a reward point system to retain customers on their network. The points earned by Grid Mobile can be earned in 3 ways – (1) birthday, (2) being a loyal customer, (3) friend referral.
As for the uses of the points, there are also 3 uses – (1) offset bill, (2) cash back, (3) redeem participating merchants. For bill offset and cash back, the points are valued at $1 per 100 points.
Grid Mobile has partnered with quite a few merchants ranging three categories from shopping to food to gaming. You can find the full list here.
An interesting part about the Grid Mobile plan is that you have free 1GB data roaming in Malaysia every month. So if you do go to JB every now and then, then this plan might seem well suited to you. As for the Buddy SIM which comes with 1GB data, this can come in handy if you have a cellular tablet like an iPad.
And if you are a UOB YOLO cardholder, you will enjoy an exclusive 8% cashback when you pay your Grid Mobile bills with the UOB YOLO card.
If you find the current offerings insufficient for your current usage, there are also add-on available either on a monthly basis or as you wish for a duration of 15 days.
