If you’re finally time to switch to a no-contract plan, now is a great time to switch. Or if you’re already with a no contract plan but looking for a better deal, Giga’s year-end Pop-Up Plan is offer really good value.
What is it
Giga is advertising 50GB for S$9 to catch your attention. They’re not lying – but that 50GB for S$9 only last for your first month. But there’s more. When the 1st month promo ends, the plan reverts to a 40GB for S$18 plan. And on top of the the data, you also enjoy 200 mins, 200 SMS, free Caller ID, free incoming calls and SMS, and free data rollover!
The best part? Those terms will last forever. Yes, forever. So, for just S$18, this Giga Pop-Up plan offers really great value. Giga’s unique selling point is it’s data rollover, which allows you to carry forward 2 cycles worth of unused data. Also, called ID is included in the price which is nice to see.
Comparisons
Not convinced? Let’s check out the competition with plans that have more than 20GB of data a month.
Giga
Let’s start by comparing its own competition. Currently, Giga offers three plans. The $25 plan for 45GB still presents really good value. But if you’re don’t use that much data, call minutes or call time and would rather save S$7/month – the Pop-Up Plan is a go. Find out more here.
Gomo
Gomo is currently having a 52GB for S$20 offer. This special price is also valid for the 1st month. For the next 11 months, the plan will revert to 40GB, 400min, 400 SMS for S$20. And from the 13th month onwards, the plan will revert once more to S$20 for 20GB, 200 min, 200 SMS. Find out more here.
As you can see, you will ultimately “downgrade” to a 20GB for S$20 plan which loses out to Giga’s 40GB for S$18 plan. Moreover, you don’t get data rollover like Giga offers.
Circles.Life
Circles.Life has two wide varying plans. One for 20GB, the other for 100GB. The 20GB plan costs you S$18 per month, while the 100GB plan costs you S$38/month. Both plans offer lesser SMS and talk time than Giga. If we were to compare similar budget plans, for the same S$18, you get double the data (40GB) with Giga.
Starhub
Starhub’s no-contract SIM-Only plan isn’t too shabby. For S$25 you get 30GB of data and 1000 minutes of talk time. But you still have to pay extra S$5 for Caller ID which brings up the cost to S$30. And when compared to Giga’s 40GB for S$18 – no fight seriously.
M1
M1 offers a pretty eye-catching 40GB for S$20 plan which is really similar to Giga’s Pop-Up plan. But on closer inspection, you’ll realise that this good offer is bound for “downgrades” after 1 year. This means that on the 13th month, the M1 plan will be 30GB for S$25. Moreover, you still have to factor in S$5.35/month for Caller ID – which means that at minimum you’ll be paying S$25.35.
And when compared to Giga’s 40GB for S$18 that lasts forever, Giga still takes the win.
