ASUS unveils the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (GX650) gaming laptop

ASUS has announced the brand new ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (GX650) gaming powerhouse, which is a dual screen laptop with flagship components and top-tier performance. ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (GX650) features the brand-new Nebula Display. Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut Extreme and AAS Plus 2.0 are part of the build to ensure that the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (GX650) stays cool in all conditions.

ROG Nebula Display

ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (GX650)

The ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (GX650)’s main display has been upgraded to a 16:10 aspect ratio, allowing more real estate with slim bezels for a 91% screen-to-body ratio. The ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (GX650)‘s new ROG Nebula Display has 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, 500 nits of brightness, and a fast refresh rate with a 3ms response time or less. Refresh rate are 120Hz for 4K, 120Hz for QHD and 240Hz for Full HD resolution. The display is also Pantone Validated, support Dolby Vision HDR for games and movies, and has Adaptive-Sync. Nebula displays have received TÜV Certification for their low blue light and flicker reduction.

One Machine, Two Screens

Two screens are not new when it comes to ASUS. And the new ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (GX650) is equipped with the ROG ScreenPad Plus, which is a 4K, 14.1” secondary screen placed above the keyboard deck. This allows users to host your apps on ROG ScreenPad Plus™ while gaming.

When the main lid is raised to open the machine, the ROG ScreenPad Plus automatically rises to match, settling in at a 13-degree angle for maximum ergonomics and airflow. The engineering team developed and patented a brand new four-directional hinge that allows ROG ScreenPad Plus to slide back while raising at the same pace. When at full height, the two screens sit flush with each other, creating a nearly bezel-free viewing experience.

Top-Tier Performance

ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (GX650) is powered by AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU. There is also 64GB of DDR5 memory clocked at 4800MHz, as well as 4TB of PCIe Gen 4×4 storage in a RAID 0 array. Both the DDR5 SO-DIMMs and NVMe storage drives are easily accessible for future upgrades. All of these improvements come in an even smaller chassis than last year.

New for 2022, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (GX650) is equipped with Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal. This material has 17 times higher thermal conductivity than traditional thermal pastes, allowing the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (GX650) to run 15°C cooler. The max TGP of the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (GX650) has been increased to a 165W. The indium and galium based compound will not dry out or lose thermal efficiency over time, giving gamers reliability and peace of mind for years to come.

In addition, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (GX650) comes equipped with a MUX Switch to make the most of every frame. By default, most modern laptops route the GPU’s frames through the CPU’s integrated graphics for better battery life. But with a MUX switch, you can enable a direct GPU mode that reduces latency and boosts performance by an average of 9%.
