Review: NOERDEN SENSORI – Wi-Fi Smart Body Scale

NOERDEN is a French tech fitness brand dedicated to making smart living accessible to all. They have smartwatches, smart bottles, and smart scales. The NOERDEN SENSORI retails for S$128, and you can purchase with Synced.

Build quality and design

The NOERDEN SENSORI comes in two colours – (1) black, and (2) white. The unit I have is the white colour variant. The overall design is simple – square shaped with rounded edges. The surface is made of tempered glass and has a gloss finish to it. If you want to avoid prints coming up on the surface, getting the white colour will reduce it.

It will look at home in the bathroom or any corner of a room. The LED screen lights up when you stand on the scale. But once the LED are not lit, you can’t really see it making the whole scale look clean and neat.

Health metrics tracking

NOERDEN SENSORI uses BIA technology (or bioelectrical impedance analysis) which sends a painless low-level alternating current through your body, allowing the scale to analyse the resistance of body tissue against the current. This is how NOERDEN SENSORI measures body fat, muscle mass and hydration levels.

With one session of weight measuring, the NOERDEN SENSORI is able to provide you with 10 biometrics data:

  • Weight
  • Fat mass (% & kg)
  • Lean body mass(% & kg)
  • Hydration(% & kg)
  • Visceral fat
  • Bone mass(% & kg)
  • BMI
  • BMR
  • Metabolic age
  • Heart rate

User experience

Setup is quick. You download the NOERDEN app, and simply follow along the instructions presented to you. The batteries to power the weighing scale are included. Once you are setup with a profile on the app and made the first measurement, the weighing scale will sync with the profile on your phone.

When you stand on the scale, your weight will be displayed first, followed by other metrics such as heart rate, BMI, and more. The measurements of weight is accurate when compared to other weighing scales lying around in my house.

Single user

Every time you do a weigh in, NOERDEN SENSORI will automatically send the data via Wi-Fi and it will logged in the app. You don’t exactly need to tap on “Start body analysis” to have the app log data from the weighing scale, which is convenient. Weighing myself has become a first thing to do in the morning for me, and it is good that I don’t have to bring my phone along.

Multiple users

NOERDEN says that there is user auto-recognition. While that is true, the “It’s not me” prompt only seems to appear when the SENSORI is linked to only one account. And tapping on the button deletes the data on theaccount linked to the SENSORI so other people’s measurement won’t interfere with yours.

To test out multiple users, I setup two accounts for two different individuals, both linking to the SENSORI. With two users, I realised I cannot simply stand on the scale and expect the data to sync over Wi-Fi to my phone. The SENSORI will prompt a “FAIL” error, likely because it doesn’t know which account to send the data over to. The workaround is that you have to tap on “Start body analysis” to in the app so that your phone pairs with the SENSORI pairs momentarily with your phone via Bluetooth to recognise the end point to sync the data with. It is a little disappointing that the SENSORI isn’t smart enough to do this without having to tap a button on the app, but at least I could still get more than one user to use the scale to track daily body metrics.

App user interface

You can connect the app to your Google Fit or Apple Health app, so data measured will sync across to your preferred health ecosystem app as well. Within the NOERDEN app, you have a dashboard-like panel, where it summarises your body score based on the measured biometrics data, and even gives it a score.

Intuitively, you can tap the icons of the biometric are want to zoom in and it will bring you to a page where you can see the time trends of these data in weekly, monthly, or even yearly frequencies.

In the settings page of the app, you can change the unit of measurements between kg & lbs. There is a also a feature where you can set a weigh goal, where it will give you rather generic advice on how to do it, as well as setting a goal post on the weight chart to see your progress.

Conclusion

If you like stuff that do health and fitness tracking, then the NOERDEN SENSORI is a smart weighing scale that you can consider. It works best for a single user who wants the hassle-free convenience of measuring his/her weight every day and getting nine other biometrics logged automatically seamless via Wi-Fi to an app.
