Design and build quality

The Levoit LVAC-200 cordless vacuum features a modern looking black and white colourway that can blend seamlessly into any house interior. It has a relatively slim profile when leaned against the wall as dustbin is aligned with the stick so it does not stick out much.

Build quality of the Levoit LVAC-200 feels good. The main two buttons – Power and Eco/Turbo buttons are large and tactile. The plastic used feels high quality as well. Levoit LVAC-200 weighs 1.47kg, close to the Dreame R20 (1.67kg), but it does feel much lighter in use as the weight seems to be more evenly distributed.

Like most cordless vacuum sticks, the Levoit LVAC-200 does not stand on its own. Levoit provided a set of wall mount so that you can securely anchor the vacuum to it.

Performance and user experience

Using the Levoit LVAC-200 is pretty straightforward as there is only two suction modes you can toggle between – (1) Eco, and (2) Turbo. Once you power on the vacuum, it will default to Eco mode. There is no visual indicator as to which mode the vacuum is in, but you can probably guess it by the noise level of the vacuum as it get quite loud in Turbo mode.

Eco mode is effective at cleaning up dust and hairs on hard flooring, while Turbo mode is best used when cleaning carpets. Hair and fur stuck in carpets can sometimes remain stubborn even when using Turbo mode. Manoeuvring the Levoit LVAC-200 is easy – the wheels roll smoothly and the light weight of the vacuum helps as well. There are LED lights located on the front of the main vacuum head, and they light up automatically when powered on. While they do not reveal dust like the Dreame R20‘s laser tech do, the lights make it easier to see what you are cleaning especially under the sofa. Speaking of under the sofa, the use of a rear handle on the Levoit LVAC-200 means you can easily place the vacuum close to parallel to the ground to vacuum. There are also two types of filters located inside the main body which can be removed for replacement and cleaning.

There are three main brush heads that come with the Levoit LVAC-200.

  • Vacuum head
  • 2-in-1 Crevice tool
  • 2-in-1 Pet tool

The main vacuum head comes with anti-tangle-brush that is easily removable for easy cleaning and maintenance. Hair is not easily trapped on the brush itself and goes straight into the dustbin, which is a much appreciated maintenance point as we can spend less time detangling hair from the brush head.

Next, the 2-in-1 Crevice tool makes the Levoit LVAC-200 a light and convenient portable vacuum, which I use to vacuum the gaps between my venetian blinds at home. It is named a 2-in-1 tool as the dusting brush can be retracted if they are not needed for cleaning. It is also worth noting the the Crevice tool is rather slim so it can be used to reach into tight spaces.

Lastly, the 2-in-1 Pet tool is designed to remove pet fur off soft upholstery. The brush head can be removed to reveal a fur removal tool that helps to loosen fur and hair on fabric or carpets. I found it worked best to remove hair trapped in low-pile carpets. One thing to note about the attachments is that the 2-in-1 tools don’t lock into place unlike the Vacuum head where it clicks in place. The 2-in-1 tools are merely held in place by friction between the two sticks. They still work as intended, but would have nicer if they clicked into place as well.

Maintenance

Maintenance of the Levoit LVAC-200 is generally low and easy to do. The Levoit LVAC-200 empties out by opening the lid of the 750ml dustbin. Most of the dust and hair are clumped together so they are dumped away in one clump. But I still found some hair and small dust stuck on the metal filter. The metal filter is easily removable by a simple anti-clockwise turn for me to brush off any hair and dust residues.

All the filters in the dusbin (except for pre-motor filters made of felt and foam) can be washed with water and be re-used once dry. Even the roller brush of the Vacuum head can be easily removed for cleaning.

Battery life

Levoit LVAC-200 is rated to last up to 50 minutes of use on a single charge. During my testing, I get between 30-40 minutes of use when vacuuming at Eco mode, but only a mere 12 minutes when using Turbo mode. As there is not LCD screen on the vacuum, you have to reply on the three LED indicators on the vacuum. Once battery is near depletion, it will start to blink.

Fully charging the Levoit LVAC-200 can take hours, but at least the battery pack is removable so you can charge the battery separately without need to leave the entire vacuum at the power outlet. This also means that there is a likelihood of purchasing an extra battery pack if you need more cleaning time.

Conclusion

If your house has more hard flooring and isn’t too big, the Levoit LVAC-200 is a good fit for maintaining cleanliness. It’s effective at cleaning up hair and dust with low maintenance, and is light enough to use as a portable vacuum with its attachments. Personally, I find the best as Levoit LVAC-200 as secondary vacuum if you live in a big house where usage time for cleaning is not long.
