Review: Creative Outlier Go – Open-Ear Headphones with Adjustable Fit

Open-ear earbuds are continuing to make waves, especially among users who need something secure, sweat-resistant, and comfortable for exercise. Creative’s latest entry into this space, the Creative Outlier Go, is pitched as a fitness-focused pair that promises stability, comfort, and solid sound — all at an affordable price point of S$89.

Build quality and battery life

The Creative Outlier Go adopts an around-the-ear hook design and has a durable yet lightweight build, designed with fitness users in mind. The earbuds feature a matte dark grey finish that doesn’t attract much fingerprints and feels premium for the price. The silicone ear hooks are soft, flexible, and have just the right amount of tension to maintain grip without causing discomfort. The build is rated IPX4, which is good enough to handle sweat and rain — basically what you’d expect for workouts or daily jogs.

As for controls, each earbud houses a touch-sensitive panel used for controlling playback, volume, and answering calls. These controls are fairly responsive, though there is a slight delay with volume adjustments. A useful bonus: the earbuds can be manually powered on or off directly using the touch panels — no need to rely solely on the case.

The charging case is decently compact – it’s long but slim, so it is kinda pocket-friendly, with a soft matte finish that complements the earbuds’ design. It opens with a satisfying hinge and holds the earbuds firmly in place with a magnetic latch.

Battery life is decent — 6 hours per charge and up to 26–27 hours with the case. The case charges via USB-C and comes with dual LEDs to indicate charging status. Do note that a full earbud charge takes about 2 hours, which is slightly on the longer side, but acceptable given the total usage time.

Fit and comfort

Fit of Creative Outlier Go is highly adjustable and should work well with most ears thanks to the multi-axis adjustment mechanism: you can tweak the earbuds’ position both horizontally and vertically. While some open-ear buds only rotate along one axis, the Outlier Go allows you to tweak the driver’s position across two axes, making it easier to find that “sweet spot” for both comfort and sound projection.

The silicone hooks also feel soft and sit comfortably around the ears. Once adjusted properly, they stay secure and comfortable during my runs.

Sound quality

Let’s set expectations: Creative Outlier Go are open-ear buds. You won’t get booming sub-bass or perfect isolation. But that said, the Outlier Go delivers balanced and surprisingly punchy audio.

Vocals come through clearly, acoustic instruments are crisp, and there’s enough bass to keep workouts energetic. There’s an open soundstage that gives your music space to breathe. While the bass doesn’t dig deep, it’s tight and controlled — much better than expected at this price point. Treble can feel a little reserved at low volumes but wakes up nicely as you crank it. At very high volumes, it might get slightly sharp, but nothing unbearable. There’s also a low-latency mode, which helps for video and gaming.

The Creative app lets you tweak the sound profile using preset EQs, and although there’s no full manual EQ, the presets cover most common genres. You can also remap touch controls through the app, though volume prompts are a bit loud and can’t be adjusted (yet).

Conclusion

The Creative Outlier Go is a strong contender in the open-ear fitness space, especially if you’re looking for something that is affordable, has good build quality and sounds surprisingly good. The round-the-ear hook design ensures a secure fit, making it a practical everyday workout companion. At S$89, it’s an easy recommendation for active users who want affordable, reliable, and comfortable open-ear earbuds.
